What is a blog and what are blog services?
This is an interesting subject - Blogs. Unlike in the business world — whether for profit or for nonprofit — you find folks unwilling to admit deficits. In my area of rural Washington, North Carolina this is especially evident. Small town small minds? Big fish in little waters? Looking towards the “blogosphere” I see something more along the lines of my Open Source roots. A willingness to share both the knowledge and fame or credit as it were. Hold on a sec. I really am getting to the point here , give me a second. My point is ’round these here parts of the rural south you find folks a bit on the egocentric side almost completely lacking in any resemblance of humility. There is little sense of magnanimity in “the hub of IBX”. A certain air of chickenshit arrogance waffes through our power crowd. Sad.
Blogs and bloggers like those in the free software or open source communities show willingness not only to ask for assistance, but to openly admit to short comings. Very refreshing indeed. In discussing this subject you must understand that blogs are a major part of online activity in today’s society. Millions of people blog daily. Some of us recognize a bit of celebrity status as a result of our blogs - plus our A-Listers make serious cash. What exactly is blogging? Well, macewan.org is a blog. You see a blog is a website which consists of various entries. These entries are written by the blogger. Blog entries are often called posts. All blog entries or posts appear in reverse chronological order featuring the most recent entry listed first.
So blogging is like a diary?
Blogging, in a sense, is very similar to a journal or diary. Majority of blogs include comments and links which are placed to gain user interactivity and community. As with most warm and fuzzy discussions the topic of cashmoneyY0 creeps in. Oh yeah, serious money is made online. More than you’ll ever earn in small towns 8-5. Sorta one of the reasons I blog coach folks. Staying on the subject of community and mixing in the money making aspect I just touched on, Michael of michaelmartine.com recently wrote on the subject of community building (traffic) as it pertains to online profits. Chris Garrett took the idea a step beyond the basics Michael laid before us. In his version a blogpack is created the Authority Blogger Blog Pack. Now this is far from new. Most have been there done that already. However, this pack is fair new and revving for new members. Those already members can head over to http://drop.io/ABpacktwitter to download the latest version of the feeds OPML or Twitter list files - thanks Rebecca Leaman for the heads up.

Bloggers are cool like that? =)
That’s debateable. First things first. Blogs are produced by a special software. With this site - macewan.org - the backend or “special software” is WordPress. Blogging is the act of writing blog entries or posts in a blog. Blogosphere or blog services sites usually consist of an online community of blogs and bloggers *think AB Blog Pack*. Blogging is very therapeutic and a great way to be heard. You can even get paid to blog sometimes. It is possible to become a professional blogger because the activity has become so popular. People blog to express their thoughts and opinions, market or promote something, help other people, establish yourself as an expert, connect with people similar to you, to make a difference, to stay active or knowledgeable in a certain field or topic, to stay connected to friend and family, and to make money from various forms of media. Blogging plays a key role in many different causes. There are times when being a celeb. blogger has it’s perks. Not 10 minutes ago while writing this post I was contacted by a resort owner in Costa Rica. He needed services I provide in exchange for one of the rooms on the beach. Air conditioning and a pool on the freaking beach for 2 weeks free! Viva yo. Chickabowow.
There are many different ways to blog and most of them are through free blog services, that’s right the majority of blog services are free. My wife seems to think real men bust their asses busting broncos. Well… not me. Just because she grew up in the frontier watching rodeo clowns and steer wrestling doesn’t mean I’m getting a quarter horse and entering rodeo competitions as a hobby any time soon. But I do see her fascination with the sport. I think the term “rodeo” is all-inclusive as a sport. Shows you how much I know.
The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas looks like it would be more fun than imaginable. NFR Tickets would make the perfect birthday present. Premiere Rodeo! The competitors are some of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association finest members. They’re putting their spines on the line for some big cash. I found out that the “rodeo dirt” used in the arena is special to the Finals Competition. It’s stored at UNLV and used only for the shit-kicking-big-bronc-busting thrill ride that will be the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The closest I guess I’ll get is my new pair of Wrangler jeans but I’d go to Vegas in a split second if I could beg, borrow, or steal a ride. Well, actually, if the purpose was to take my wife, I guess it would be prudent to buy a plane ticket. I don’t see her as hobo hitching a freight car ride material.

Well, someone needs a new website. The Fenix Hotel in Guanacaste, Costa Rica and by golly, I’m going to make them one. Odds are, if you’re a cool kid in the know, you’ve seen the beach in Samara. We’ll be leaving out of RDU on June 2 and blogging tico style for 16 days.
Yes, it’s true, Mel Gibson has a $31,000,000 beach house near Samara and Britney Spears is frolicking in the waves nearby. Actually, according to official Costa Rican press releases, it’s a ranch.
Mel has strong family values, and in spite of his reputation as a drinker and party animal, he prefers to live a more simple life than his negative press image implies.
Gibson says Hollywood doesn’t like him and he wants to be a Tico, and the “real estate investment” was very shrewd since Samara is blooming as a resort haven. Well… all I know is my daughter C4 has monkeys in the front yard …
Watch your local news for more updates on the Britney Beach Scene… look for me waving in the background…
The photograph here is Bob, who would have been my father-in-law. He died in 1988. Val has some great photos. I’m using that photo because this new blog requires a specific photo size and Bob Bowling is my prototype.

Trying out some big changes… bear with me as we load, re-load, re-vitalize macewan.org. With over 2,100 posts, it is surely going to take some time to get everything straight. Man, I’ve been at this a long time…
Blogging makes me tired… just like Howard Monkey. He’s waiting for me in Samara, Costa Rica. I’ll be there soon.

Yes, I’m just filling space with BS to see how it lays out on the page. Sue me.

There’s more than one way to skin a real estate cat. If financial straits are bearing down on you and you find yourself drowning in mortgage payments, check out IBuyHouses.com. They have local affiliates willing to help you sell your property and get you out from under your huge mortgage mistake. You can try on your own to sell house and property or you can contact someone to do it for you. Online, the easy way. They even have some great articles about selling property and other real estate topics.
On another real estate front — For first time buyers out there considering rental versus buying a home - -now is the time to hit up the family for down payment money. Chances are, the money they have in savings isn’t earning any interest right now, why not convince them to put those funds into real estate — real estate for you! It’s a win - win situation.

Hello Kitty to be appointed Japan’s tourism ambassador on Monday.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will announce the appointment on Monday, Kyodo said at the weekend, quoting ministry officials.
It will mark the first time a cartoon character has become a goodwill ambassador for Japan under the government’s campaign launched in 2003 to promote visits to the country, it said.
Under its “Visit Japan Campaign” to attract foreigners, the government hopes to attract 10 million overseas tourists annually by 2010, up from 8.35 million last year.
