You might want to sit down for this one. I’m not even sure how my warped mind bounced around such a diverse subject. Let’s start by staying I consider myself to be a fiscal conservative - to a point. To deny one department toilet tissue only to turn around and purchase 20 inch flat screen monitors for yours is not fiscal conservatism; that is flat out selfish. Perhaps bordering, dare I say, wasteful spending.

When I came aross an opinion piece in the WSJ by Piyush Jindal my heart warmed. The puppy dog warm fuzzy feeling continued up to the point I realized he’s a proponent of teaching Intelligent Design with a straight face. Geez, another hopeful super star kicking it old school with the flat earthers of Texas.

Practitioners of the “intelligent design” brand of creationism, much like Molière’s Physician in Spite of Himself, not only belie the true nature of their avocation and motives, but also play fast and loose with a commonly held precept. They tacitly negate the clear and completely traditional parameters that illuminate the position of chance occurrence in our universe.

Article linkage is forth coming after a quick run down of what many consider an insult to God. Break out the home edition pricing gun and label this Biblical and intellectual heresy. Keeping 16:33 in mind where the toss of a coin or rolling of the dice, pick your game of ‘chance’, which in thumper thinking is said to ultimately rely on Gods providence. Still with me? Good ’cause we’re flipping the wedge in favor of true intelligence and fixin to hand them their asses.

If those crafty creationialist doubt evolution possible due the overwhelming impossibility that random events could spiral into our thumbs placing atop the food chain… breath, are they not themselves claiming God inferior - incapable of fulfilling what the very Bible they claim to follow states within Gods power. They dismiss evolution because random events aren’t powerful enough to create man? To say God sat down, as it were, to specificly design all things. He could not have possibly set these events in motion, through science based equations? This isn’t within his control? Are they suggesting we ignore Proverb 16:33 or that it could not possibly account for the evolution of all things on earth?

I hate to get all Maddow up in this mother fucker, but someone needs to talk me down if you have the God given balls to do so.

Kev. wrote an interesting overview of the Global.tv Annual Expo. We met the likes of VCs, television producers and fellow dot tv developers. I’m tipping my hat towards allthings.tv as the forum of choice for all things dot tv.

Part 1

SEO work is not black magic

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is big business. Awaiting Google to hand select then deliver qualified visitors, whatever the sites business model, is relying on luck. Check that ego at the door, time to slip on a pair of comfortable jeans, not Wranglers - seriously, what with their new commercials? Sure as the economic crisis was all but expected that business site, they are all business sites it’s the reason we do this right, will lag unless optimized and re-optimized for Google. Time to get our hands dirty minus the big budget SEO wizards.

What is SEO?

SEO is optimizing your website for seek engines. In selecting meaningful anchor text to internal links, appropriate external “no follow” links, throw in a mixture of meta tags, title to content matching, keywords and content pruning one pleases the Google overlord. Do remember that censoring your thought too much will generally seed a poisonous environment. All will see this as an attempt to hide truths resulting in you holding little to no credibility with stakeholders (advertisers and subscribers).

The ambition of SEO is desination development. Once your subscribers and advertisers buy into the site you reward them with incentives. Steer clear of attempts to censor feedback or comments. We all know hundreds of sites begging bloggers to provide commentary on interactions with companies, nonprofits, blogs or da gubment. Why, just recently such reputation feedback sites *note the plural* were updated to reflect inadequancies observed in a nonprofit.

Devolving into an SEO retard

Remember boys and girls a pissed off seasoned blogger with time and money to spend is the last thing you’ll want breathing down your neck. God forbid you attempt to piss on *insult* those folks. You want to improve and build reputation while expressing a view. It’s too easy to fuck-it-up through postings, reviews and emails which are easily reposted and forwarded. Geez, imagine the distraction of dealing with an automated get the word out campaign a blogger can have up and running in 45 minutes or less. Hear me - it’s much cheaper to check-in that ego.

If you do slip and draw the anger of such a create the last thing recommended is bullying. Bloggers will recognize this as an opportunity to get the word out. One of my revenue sources comes from being a spokesman of sorts for products. We bloggers manipulate opinions for profit both openly and behind the scenes. This industry exists in the shaddows. I know first hand, as a paid member, that scary shit goes down daily.

Rural worker rights

Tomorrow we have a good chance of electing an African American president. The time has come and we as a nation are ready. Unfortunately, not all parts of America are so open. Did you know that racism still exists in North Carolina? It does. Even rural little Washington, NC. I’ve watched this for a few years. At first you question the events and wonder if what you see really is racism. Is it racist to treat one group a certain way and another group differently? To threaten and intimidate a group, any group, is wrong both morally and ethically.

No more. North Carolina employers do have to right to fire an employee if it’s a private company and no valid contract exist at the time. That’s all good and understood, but no longer will I witness an event and not report it. Whether the report is filed with State and Federal Department of Labor, State or Federal Equal Employment Commissions, Local and State Newspapers or through my skills as a webpublisher with over 14 years experience… I’m setting up a Social Networking community for this segment of North Carolina workers so they can talk about it.

The Internet Marketing & Affiliate Marketing training are soon to be put to good use. With my existing online properties I can reach 6-9 thousand workers on any given day. With the Social Networking site, targeted advertising and both black and white’ish hat techniques I can bump this to 15 thousand a day by the end of November. Website number 177 will be a North Carolina workers rights discussion destination.

I’m ready to make history - are you? Let’s call this post number 1 on the subject. Subscribe to my feed to keep updated. http://www.macewan.org/feed, http://www.macewan.net/feed, http://www.macewan.tv/feed.

Event Tracking allows you to track interactions with Web 2.0 style content such as Flash, AJAX, Adobe Air, Silverlight, social networking apps, etc. It essentially allows you to track interactions beyond just pageviews.

To use Event Tracking, you will need to upgrade your site to use the new ga.js javascript. Detailed instructions on how to set up Event Tracking on your site are available on our newly launched CodeSite. To find your ga.js code snippet, edit the settings for your profile and click the “Check Status” link on the upper right corner of the page.

Sincerely,
The Google Analytics Team

It’s so new their links aren’t set-up correctly. Damn people, that’s fresh news. Another webapp beta testing that comes to mind is a catch all business review 2.0 with talented programmers and plenty of funding. Another must use site works with matching Funding Partners with media rich sites.

The funding is there. Polish those sites and throw your name into the bucket. Oh yeah, I’m getting a Boxster in a few months. vroom vroom people

My self-imposed hiatus from online business officially ends on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. After three weeks of mental cotton candy, it’s time jump back into the ring. First topic is MacEwan Media, the umbrella company for all our sites which uses our macewan.tv domain to specifically target online business in the dot universe. I want to target the basics of working the dot business knowledge base. Help you to understand how fortunate you are with the choices available through the Internet.

I’d like to with by saying flat-out that money will not magically appear in your PayPal account. This is work. Real work. Even though I earn residual income which may make it appear as though I’m not working for this money, the truth is — this to is work. Folks advertise on our sites or request reviews in hope of attracting eyeballs through either that day’s readers, rss feed readers or to be indexed for future browsers.

Lesson 1: Read, listen and learn. Give yourself a good year at least in which to learn and earn that basic knowledge of exactly what is occurring with online businesses.

Unfortunately, folks buy into the stay-at-home hype that preys on the dream of owning a Porsche, a laptop and too much free time to fill. Make no mistake that this can happen - it is accomplished through knowledge and work, so… sorry, but inserting a CD into your computer and clicking the “make me money” button is a myth. Honor the effort you expend by fulling understanding you must be in this for the long haul.

You may be wondering if it’s too late to make money online — asking if you missed the boat. Absolutely not! Bloggers earn ridiculous income. John Chow always comes to mind with last months income at $38,030.57 through a mixture of his: affiliate commissions $12,807.69, private ad sales $11,730.00, appearance fees $4,000.00, ReviewMe $4,000.00, Text Link Ads $2,028.59, Shoemoney Tools $2,019.60, Kontera $1,000.00 and RSS ads coming in at $444.69 for a grand total just under forty thousand dollars. I’m not going to spoonfeed you the links to everything I just mentioned. Get motivated! Look ‘em up yourself. Hyperlinks are the lazy way.

Now that I have your attention, I want to remind everyone that today is Blog Action Day. Join us in our attempt to address global poverty with simple-to-use internet tools at our disposal. Credit goes to my wife for bringing this to my attention. She’s a Kiva micro-enterprise lender.

One peaceful night, you are sitting at home watching your favorite show on TV. Suddenly, the power goes out. You reach for your handy flashlight. You flip the switch, and nothing. The battery is dead, having lost its charge over time, and now you are left groping in the dark for a candle and a match.

Everyone has been in this situation at one time or another, if not with a flashlight, then perhaps with a CD player, a travel alarm clock or in business dealings. The results can range from inconvenience (being left in the dark by a dead flashlight) to disaster (if, say, your alarm clock battery dies and you are an hour late for an important business meeting.) Business relations realm issues change the game entirely.

You can easily avoid having to experience these inconveniences. Simply label your battery-operated devices with the date whenever you change the battery, then check the package the battery came in to see when you need to replace it. This will keep you from falling victim to a battery that fades from old age. Simple problems with simple fixes.

Business today, especially online businesses, require information access at a moments notice. Reliable, seasoned sources will serve to lessen headaches. Common knowledge suggests you test your devices regularly, particularly things such as flashlights which are for emergency use, and thus are not used often otherwise. In business this naturally occurs with the ups and downs, as in life, which takes place.

You may want to consider buying a battery tester, which can be found at most electronics stores, that will quickly tell you when a battery is running low. Whereas in the business of generating money reliability is key. Knowing what questions to ask of the right people can assist in laying out changes to business plans.

Flash lights or remote control planning is fairly simple. Keep a supply of spare batteries all in one place, so you will not have to search high an low for a new set. Keep a list of your battery-operated devices and what type of batteries they use with this supply of batteries, so you can easily tell how many things you will need to buy batteries for when your supplies begin to run low. You may also want to keep a set of batteries with important devices (flashlights are, again, the perfect example) so they can be replaced quickly. With online business your “time in service” playing the game is key. If you’re a newbie spend more time reading and listening than filling dead time with irrelevant blathering - pay attention as you may learn something.

My self imposed hiatus ends October 15, 2008. Time to sling the gloves off and kick a little ass.
