A little birdie whispered: Apparently, Skype has released a Beta version with video.
There’s new beta out that brings video calls to Linux.
Make calls from your computer – free to other people on Skype, cheap to phones and mobiles across the world. And the sound quality is great, too – keep it running all day, and it’s like you’re in the same room as the person on the other end.
Features
Skype is packed with innovative and cool features – many are completely free – that help you keep in touch no matter where you are and what you’re doing.
Plus, if you have friends who haven’t discovered the joys of Skype you can call them on their phone or mobile at pretty cheap rates too.
- Set up video call with anyone in your contact list.
- Group chat with up to 100 people or conference call with up to nine others.

Is it me or has Otaku Software just done a complete rip-off of our cube desktop?

How often have you heard from a friend or co-worker that recently lost hours of work due to computer failure? Online backup solutions exist - take it from macewan - BACK IT UP.
Over the course of a week or so I had a chance to test Gutsy on a nonproduction machine. Zero chance of work stopage due to data corruption. Our test machine is run of the mill all on mother board box with 512 megs of ram. Nothing show stopping in the least. This was an upgrade from Feisty setup. As of 4:00 EST the only problem was the cube under Compiz.

Gutsy Gibbon is scheduled for release October, 2007. In my use on an upgraded machine I found little in the way of noticeable bugs during day to day use. SU lag time was consistent but this was rarely required. Looking to the near term future after Gutsy - Hardy Heron is set for first quarter 2008.

Remember using Beagle for you desktop searching on Ubuntu Linux - back in 2005? Boy I do - those days are gone since switching to Google Desktop on Ubuntu Linux. My indexing takes place in the background without a hint of top heavy cpu action. Thank Google.

The Ubuntu Launch pad found at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu provides information on blah Gutsy Gibson, not this or odd choice using Gibson fghfghfgh
IMO ubuntu has releases too often.. they should slow up and take a look at making the desktop OS more dumbed down for an average winblows user.
