Flipping through the web, you know what I mean, brought me to a site dedicated to buying Ford F-150 used trucks. There’s nothing fancy when it comes to this work horse web site just search, click and buy.

Buying a used Ford F-150 truck

Let’s take a peek at one truck. From the site I see that there are 2 days 5 hours bidding time left with 7 current bids. The price is clearly marked in red text. What we basically have here is a quick and easy way of shopping for Ford F-150 trucks. Clicking through to eBay brings further details of the truck; Year: 2007, Make: Ford, Model: F-150, Mileage: 11,501, Transmission: Automatic, Engine: 8 - Cyl. 5.4 L. Hell, if this truck strikes your fancy better hurry up and bid!

Diversify. I can’t stress this enough. Your blogs Google Page Rank will fade in importance when revenue comes from multiple sources other than your blog. Besides, posting for cash is time intensive. An example of the less time consuming alternative would be the BANS sites I’m running (visit buybans.com to see how I do it). Currently there are 20 sites total where I run Build A Niche Store site software of which SouthernYardArt.com was the first. Since it started earning commissions first I’m fond of giving it props. (y0!) That one site made $42 yesterday. =)

Today has me setting up a mashup site. A friend of mine had software developed that he in turn sells which does basically the same thing as my mashup, but he charges for the ease adding a pretty template to boot. The site being set up will take advantage of YouTube adsense sells, ebay/cj, straight adsense and Amazon thrown in towards the end. If you want to check its progress head over to UbunTube.net. The name itself is a mashup of Ubuntu and YouTube.

Quick update on my BANS (Build a Niche Store) holdings. January 27th came in with our 20th site in this segment. Each store is monetized across several streams. This is to prevent a catastrophe of any one company from impacting the bottom line too heavily. The purpose of a BANS site is to set them in motion residual income sources while other projects are tackled. Our total website portfolio is currently 81 domains including blogs, BANS, ezine & associated communities and a clothing line in the form of t-shirts, bags, coffee cups etc. Minisites, game site(s), PLR/articles/ebooks & niche blogs/news to follow.

Let’s focus on the BANS stores. Each BANS draws income from the likes of Google’s Adsense, eBay referrals and sales, software referral and a mixture of advertising placements such as Text-Link-Ads. Through an initial push with advertising, articles paid postings we drive targeted traffic. Depending on the particular niche of the store your income looks like this for a month: 3 referrals @ $25 each with various commissions added. Said site during the month is at $92 so the months average is $3 a day. OK, that’s one store. Take that same $3 for one store and start scaling up for a general idea of base income per day. One site at $3 is only $3. Whereas five sites at $3 each is $15 for the day. Continuing along this same line you see 20 sites at $3 per day brings $60 per day.

If you find yourself interested in trying a BANS store just head over to BuyBANS.com to get started. Diversification of your Internet holdings is the safer bet for those seeking long term sustainable income. It also helps you sleep better too. =) An example of a BANS site would be ArthritisAtHome.com where you can easily spot products like the paraffin spa wax treatment we use in our household.

Again this is a sample. I prefer for personal reasons to spread across several areas. Some prefer to keep it close to the chest with one to five blogs. Hey, if it works for you that’s just great. Please comment with what you’re working on at this time. Don’t be shy.

Folks love reading how much money certain Pro Bloggers are making each month. Take John Chow for example his JohnChow.com has been monetized since September of 2006. The following month, October, he reported $352.94 earned. Jump forward a couple months to see November 2006 earning at $2,139.93. Twelve months have passed since that report and John Chow is reporting November 2007 income from his blog at $27,420.83. That is not a misprint. Twenty seven thousand four hundred twenty dollars and eighty three cents.

This boys and girls is one hell of an inspiration to those of us that have decided to monetize our blogs. The first month I made the decision to ‘monetize’ I brought in something in the neighborhood of $650 for July 2007 and two months later I earned $2,800 for the month of September 2007. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I also work full-time during the day so these numbers represent my efforts in the evenings with zero real knowledge of what the hell I was doing.

My goal was to see if it was possible and I showed everyone most importantly to myself that yes it was possible. OK, let’s move forward. On December 1st the announcement was made that the 90 day count down to me going pro had started. However, there are plenty of monthly income reports out there showing that money to be earned by monetizing your blog. My 90 day count down is slightly different from others in that I’m involved in seriously intense professional monetization training. My earnings will not be broadcast. My blathering posting has noticeably slowed during this training period. I will not be able to share everything taught but I can direct you to folks that provide training. So we see it is possible to make money blogging. But blogging is not the only way. On Feb. 16th 2008 I turn four oh. Join me on my journey to “retiring at 40“.

GAME ON!

The Ubuntu team is proud to announce the beta release of Ubuntu 7.04.

Ubuntu 7.04 is the most user-friendly Ubuntu to date and includes a
ground-breaking Windows migration assistant, excellent wireless
networking support and improved multimedia support.

Ubuntu 7.04 server edition adds support for hardware facilities that
speed up the use of virtual machines as well as other improved
hardware support, making it an excellent choice as a web, database,
file and print server, the fastest growing area of Linux server use.

Desktop highlights
——————

Windows migration tool: The new migration tool recognises Internet
Explorer bookmarks, Firefox favourites, desktop wallpaper, AOL IM
contacts, and Yahoo IM contacts, and imports them into Ubuntu during
installation. This offers easier and faster migration for new users of
Ubuntu and individuals wanting to run a dual-boot system.

Easy-to-install codec wizards: A new guided wizard for installing
codecs not shipped with Ubuntu gives users a safe way of installing
codecs they can legally use to view multimedia content.

Plug and play network sharing with Avahi: This new feature allows
users to automatically discover and join a wireless network and share
music, find printers and more.

Server highlights
—————–

Virtualisation support: On x86 systems with the Intel VT or AMD-V
extensions, Kernel-based Virtual Machine support (KVM) allows users to
run multiple virtual machines running unmodified Linux. Each virtual
machine has private virtualised hardware: a network card, disk,
graphics adapter, and so on. We have also added VMI support, which
provides optimised performance under VMWare.

Edubuntu highlights
——————-

Thin client: Edubuntu integrates the latest thin client technology out
of the box. Edubuntu Classroom Server consists of two CDs, a server
image and a server add-on image with additional education applications
and languages.

Improved documentation: The Edubuntu handbook with tips and best practices for educators and educational IT administrators is included.

Thin Client highlights
———————-

Print and sound support: Jetpipe, a new printing architecture for thin
clients, greatly improves on previous technologies.  Sound support in
applications is also dramatically improved with the PulseAudio sound
server.

Thin client management: Administrators can now manage thin client
connections to a server more easily.

Other

Known Bugs
———-

* Resizing ext2/ext3 file systems may fail unless a full file system
check has just been run. To work around this, run ‘e2fsck -f
DEVICE’ (where DEVICE is the name of the device in question, such
as /dev/sda1) and retry the resize operation after that
completes. When using the desktop CD, you can run this from a
terminal window; when using the alternate install CD, you can
press Alt-F2 to get to a terminal, and Alt-F1 to return to the
installer.  https://launchpad.net/bugs/94647

* Systems with JMicron IDE(PATA) chipsets may experience a crash on
boot. This was not fixed in time for beta release, but a planned
kernel upload just after release will rectify the problem. A work
around has not been tested, but would involve blacklisting the
`generic` kernel module.  https://launchpad.net/bugs/84964
