Monetizing your blog like Janey Bell

by macewan on December 20, 2007

Hey there I'm Robert MacEwan the author of Ideal Absolutes. If you're new to macewan.org, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Currently I’m in the middle of teaching 3 folks in the black arts of blogging for BOGIDYBOO money. My friends over at janeybell.net have finally delved into making online videos on the Toddler Reality Show (http://greenville-nc.com/?p=214). Their first video is an ad for Packet8’s newest product and features their son’s stuffed toy hippo. I’m not much of an authority on cute, but I’m pretty partial to my grandballons and the youngest one’s photograph is featured in the ad. Ms. janeybell, herself, is the narrator, and her husband was kind enough to do the camera work and change her background slides. I think its a great step in the right direction as janeybell tries to monetize in my footsteps. Check out the video , and give janeybell a vote in Packet8’s video contest ( http://bix.yahoo.com/contest/33995).

Cirque Du Soleil anyone?

by macewan on November 5, 2007

Concert Tickets on your mind? Trust the professionals. Put your money where it can buy the best and trust the best to find you the concert tickets you need. Smart concert goers know to contact a company with access to an extensive network of sources that can delivey the best seats at the most amazing price available. Quality entertainment doesn’t necessarily have to cost a fortune. Within 4 clicks I was purchasing tickets to a Football game. Leave it to professionals who’ve shown they can deliver what you need today. Need a reliable source for the most sought after tickets? Their network has consistently shown their ability to provide quality seating at demonstrably lower prices than other sources. Any concert. Any location. Anytime. Online. Now. All I have to do is hitch a ride to a city, eh? This rural town is the original Podunk, the butt of every country-comic’s jokes. Oh, we’ve got entertainment all right lots of pig pickin’s, deer hunting, and granny roping roping, and some flounder tossing thrown in. Oh yeah, they’re offering a 2007 promotion of 5% off with the promotion code “source07,” so check it out.

B-List Blogger? Kineda cool what’s Next?

by macewan on October 17, 2007

So this B-List Blogger is what it feels like to be almost famous - I’m a B-list blogger according to Kineda. How is that pronounced? Looks like “Canada” perhaps? Or Kin-ee-dah? that sounds like a town in Wisconsin — Kineda, Wisconsin, Home of Cheese. macewan or MacEwan… blogging word play.

My Alexa is now clocks in at under 125,157, Technorati’s @ 53,143 & Compete showing 94,279. Overall it appears I’m kicking ass. That said - I’m embarrassed to be called a Blogeberty from someone that wastes space discussing MTV’s Next. Seriously, what the hell is that?!

Next? As in What will they think of to get clicks and ad bucks Next? No… not that. Oh, I get it, MTV wants web readers to stumble upon humans, not upon websites. Interesting concept albeit not original to MTV. As usual, under-age teen look-at-me’s will flock to the site and be devastated when no one picks them — just like at school! But seriously, if this is the kind of activity that floats someone’s boat, I say, go for it. The web really does offer something for everyone these days… MTV will do anything for clicks because clicks mean ad dollars. This is an advertising ploy, of course, and maybe it will cause the ad dollars to flow like the Nile for MTV.

Ringtone coolness beats the cell phone blahs.

by macewan on October 9, 2007

Ringtones! Thousands of Ringtones! It feels like some kind of cellphone celestial chorus and it only takes a sec to download the tune that best fits your mood. Sprint Ringtones, AT&T… you name it. For me, I dig a little of Beethoven’s Fifth and the bit of gloom tone it sends when I receive a call from a number “unknown”. Val? She likes some Aretha Franklin or maybe John Mayer. Let’s face it, if it’s Dave Matthews or John Mayer — my wife will listen to and embrace the tune. Icky Thump? Foo Fighters? What’s your preference?

Get all the best ringtones for $9.99 a month. If you have the cash to … waste, uh squander, uh spend … and like the sound to fit the mood, grab some tones/tunes online. Internet enabled handsets only. Pop around the website and read the fine print — you’ll like what you see, I bet, and you’ll want to announce your presence in Harris Teeter or Old Navy when your friends call to ask what you’re doing.

It’s easy:
By entering the PIN code sent via text message to the cell phone number supplied by you on this page, you acknowledge you are subscribing to Ringaza’s Ringtone Club service. The 10 complimentary ringtones & 5 complimentary wallpapers offer is available as 10 extra ringtone credits & 5 extra wallpaper credits upon successful registration of the Ringaza Ringtone club.

It’s dada and it’s real.

Destination St. Lucia

by macewan on September 29, 2007

With all this talk of vacationing I forgot to bring up St. Lucia with both sultry black sands and white sugar sands. I’ve seen the snow white sands of Destin Florida and they are beautiful, but both black and white would be quite the eye candy.

Lately the temperatures in Washington have hovered in the 95+ area with 80 gallion humidity range. So finding that they have a 70′ish weather lifestyle certain gets my attention. Feeling the 70-85 degree
sun, the wind & not a care in the world. This is exactly what I would consider the perfect weekend retreat.

Thankfully the St. Lucia culture is conservative in nature due their history with the Catholic Church. This appeals to my oh-my-I’m-an-adult self image. The warm vacation spot is nice, tons of drunk college students I can do without. Come to think of it St. Lucia is looking very attractive.

I’m Taking the Rookie Challenge!

by macewan on September 26, 2007

MyWallSt.net, the financial social network for those interested in investing, is promoting their fantasy investing game with winners earning real money - US$ 1000.00

Anyone willing to hand me $100,000 of investment money to join a rookie challenge gets my attention. MyWallSt.net allow you to test the waters of invest while at the same time sharing strategies and tips with others. Think MySpace meets WallStreet.

Information feed through the simulator runs 15-20 minutes after actual market numbers allowing them to keep it real. You have between 10 & 4 Monday through Friday you get a chance to get your Street-On. There’s also the chance that you may win $1000.

My first impression? The sign-up process took less than 3 minutes after which time I was redirected back to the front page and told the market was closed. Looking in the upper right hand corner of the window I noticed a login button and sign-up button - didn’t I just sign up a second ago? Answers like this are addressed at the ROOKIE Challenge F.A.Q. Read the summary and instructions.

As someone that’s started earning real play money I find this site oddly attractive. Learning a bit about investing without touching my real money. Gives a bit of an idea of what takes place with my 403b funds. They even gave me a Free hat for following the directions.

Note that I haven’t said anything about you paying money. That’s because the Rookie Challenge registration is free. Can’t beat free to join, free to participate and you may even win their $1,000 weekly prize.
