Okay, okay more photos…

I rec’d several requests for more family updates.

Ruth paintsThis weekend, I brought the collapsible computer table down from the “big closet” (formerly Val’s studio) and set it up in Ruth’s room. We have this great set of upholstered chairs from an office at Purdue University that Val got for about $7 at the Salvation Army and I scooched one of those next to the desk. Then we got all of Val’s acrylic paints, some decent paint brushes and *pppfffttt* my mother-in-law is off and running. Ruth (90, remember?) is painting little wooden trucks and planes for the great-grandsons. She loves Christmas projects and each year it seems like Val cooks up something “crafty” for her to do. Now don’t think this is jerky looking kid-stuff. No, last year Ruth embroidered her own designs onto linens for everyone in the family. Nice stuff — pillow cases, duvet covers, hand towels. Some of it’s monogrammed, others have beautiful designs, a lot of art nouveau.
happy Ruth
Bet you wished your great-grandma would paint cool stuff for you, eh? Hmmmmm… let’s see. We could go buy about a hundred of those trucks and airplanes, set Ruth in her corner with a nice garden view for inspiration, Val can put on some Bach and *VOILA* instant geriatric workroom. Wonder how much we could get for a hand-painted great-grandma created wooden truck? Nah. To the grandboys they go!

Our family philosophy is:
Boredom is the killer of mankind.

Official family cheer?
ppppfffffftttttt
