Cool! I hope to try this when I get home. How does it look? How is it different from previous versions?
[ not much difference that I can tell, my thought is that they did this to throw Google's launch of Google pay today. cheesy at best]

Hope skype works better than it did on Breezy. I could talk only if I restart each time and the only thing I opened was skype. After closing it and opening it again did not work at all! This sounds cool!

Apologies, I accidentally commented out half my post
Feel free to delete that.
Mr. Sir, grab dsp-hijacker if 1.3 doesn’t fix your sound problems. It will open, and more importantly, close appropriate sound channels when you are making an audio call.
Thanks for the heads up on the new version, I ditched skype a wee while back when I got fed up waiting for a new version (last update was October 2005) while the windows release has sailed on to 2.5 or something with video calls etc.
I’ll give it whirl again tonight if I get a chance and see how the new version measures up. Skype-sjpirate to get a hold of me.

Excellent! This tip finally completed my Xubuntu project, running completely and happily on a 266 PII with a mere 128mb of ram!! Now I’ve got a fully functional laptop!! Upgrade was a breeze, I simply followed the instructions here and poof, Skype works!!
