Google sitemap.xml for WordPress - gzipped with links to categories

by macewan on June 3, 2005

I’ve combined dt’s gzipped version with dsas’s script which generates links to categories to produce this version

http://www.macewan.org/sitemap.txt

and

http://www.macewan.org/sitemap.php is the output

These are all originating from the socialpatterns.com code found here.

I’ve also been pointed in the direction of http://www.arnebrachhold.de/ - thanks SoGuTz

some fixes needed:

add or post_status = 'static' to the query, otherwise pages won’t be present in the sitemap
send the content length before echoing the gzipped thing, or there may be problems (how is the client supposed to know it got it all?)

Perhaps you’re also interested in a remix of socialpattern’s and Arne Brachhold’s scripts that combines all the advantages.
